Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
July 9: from Peggy Lively (AP Team Lead)
This is follow-up to this mornings news.
A little after ten am, Lisa Graham called to see if we had eggs . I told her no. She was with Cathy, who was riding with the clean-up crew. Cathy agreed to meet me and show where the Mama was spotted in the dunes just before dawn. Rick and Richard met with us. There were no crawl signs but Cathy brought us to a disturbed spot. We started digging with her assistance and we found the eggs in less than ten minutes. The 94 !!!!!!! eggs were in the sea oat roots!!!!
Cathy is our hero today. If she had not seen Mama we would have a missed nest. THANK YOU, CATHY! And thanks to Lisa for the follow-thru. Lisa had followed a turtle all night with the same width on Orange Beach. Perhaps this is why the laying was just before dawn, Mama was wandering trying to find her perfect spot!
