Last night (8/19) we headed out to tarp 2 nests on day 55 and went home with 2 hatchings. We tarped 1 nest which had an indention, left the nest coordinator, Donna there and headed to second nest. We walked up to find a big hole in the nest. When coordinator, Judy put the stethoscope in the sand started rolling. We had not even put the tarp up. We quickly got it up and dug a trench as the babies were on their way out. 85 babies made it to the water. We decided to go to dinner to celebrate. As the waiter walked up to take our order my phone rang and it was Vicki saying the other nest was hatching. They had not had time to dig the trench so we went and helped them put 75 babies to the water. It was a BIG night for the Fort Morgan Team
It was also a great initiation for Mary Boatman. I think she is hooked now. 🙂
In other news one of the suspect areas west of No name hatched so we officially have nest number 46. Way to go Fort Morgan team.
