From Lisa Graham (OB Team Leader) – 21 July:
We had lots of activity in OB last night!!
About 11:15 pm LOF crew/turtle spotter/STB volunteer Debbie spotted Momma T in section D heading back to the water after crawling 180′ to the dunes. No sand on her was good sign she probably did not nest. Bonnie confirmed the beautiful false crawl. 36″ CW . HFC8
Mary had 2 false crawls in B. Two turtles.
HFC9 (40″ CW) crawled up west of Hampton in front of Phoenix OB under construction. She crawled in 81′ turned around probably due to disorientation from construction lights and went back in water.
HFC10 (36″ CW but different crawl then HFC8) crawled up east of Hampton south of CVS. Appeared to be harassed by people from her zigzag crawling to the east before giving up and heading back to the water. So sad
But then, Newbies Glen and Donna Cook (subbing for PAM and Marna) found H9 in section E. This momma had to be exhausted as she crawled in 103′ with one abandoned attempt and then nested in the dune. She then crawled to the east (possibly lights at Palm Beach caused disorientation) 500′ before finally finding the water. 36″ CW and no relocation – YAY!!
What a great start to the day!!
