Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
June 15: From Lisa G (OB Team Leader)
Got excited this morning when Jenny called with a crawl and possible nest at Turquoise. There were a couple of suspicious areas in her crawl so [..clip..] we searched for a nest but no luck.A guest at Turquoise said he saw a lot of activity last night in that area with lights and people. Not surprising in that area. I’m actually surprised a Momma Turtle would even come on that beach since it lit up like daylight there. It was a 40″ crawl width with no obstructions but people [with flashlights].
Thanks OB team for your efforts!!!
We have 70 nests after today!! Laguna Key has had 11 nests in past 15 days. The tagging team is still working Ft. Morgan/Laguna Key area. They now say we have over 100 Momma Turtles in the Gulf as opposed to 40 which was the report from last year. Wow! Hope to get more information this year on our turtles!
THANK YOU!!
