Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
More pics of H-3. As you can see she was at water’s edge.
Also, we had a little trouble this am. Here we have Paula Long, newbie after patrolling A-1 being hauled off the beach by our own Travis Long (no relation-we think).
Actually, Paula fell this morning as she was patrolling with excitement to get to the site of last night’s action. Unfortunately she wrenched her knee. I feel confident she would have noticed what there was of the crawl; however, the nest was unidentifiable. Travis came to her rescue
Take care of that knee Paula – we don’t want you out for the season. Thank you Travis – we just love you!!
I forgot to mention another cool experience last night. As Tina was brushing the sand off Moma T. to see if she had been marked – the phosphorus lit up her shell!! It was so beautiful!! A night we will never forget!! According to Travis, they were talking about it at the police station this morning as well.
Have a great day!
See you on the beach,
Lisa

My grandson, Jackson Johnson, and I were on the beach and saw the seaturtle. We were staying at Grand Point condo. It was amazing! I wanted to take a picture but I didn’t.. The young ladies that found her did a wonderful job doing what they were told to do to protect her. We would love to come when the babies are released. Any chance we could come down and watch?? It was a wonderful adventure for Jackson and me too! Please send us information on your society. Thanks, Beth Sparrow
Beth,
Thanks for the kind words. It is rare for Alabama coast visitors to actually observe a nesting sea turtle. This nest should hatch between August 11th and August 31st (if it remains hot it could be a few days sooner). I can’t be more specific since it is nature and it will happen when it happens. Maybe you and Jackson will be lucky enough to also watch the miracle this nest will provide.
