Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
July 27: From Peggy Lively (AP Team Lead)
I was at the Bon Secour River for a girls night out and Mike called as we were heading back to Orange Beach. A turtle was in the chairs at Phoenix IX. I hurried home, kicked off my red heels, threw on an over-sized green shirt and took the Turtle Taxi immediately to the site after calling Peggy B. Peggy was the closest to the area. Peggy got there as the little Mama was entering the water. She had gotten caught in the wooden loungers and thank goodness Ben, the security guard had moved two sets of chairs to accommodate her laying. As we were preparing to work the site Brenda & Don arrived and assisted. They were in from Tennessee. We dug for eggs and found them in minutes. This was a 27″ crawl and probably the same Mama that dug a hole two days ago and did not lay. Thanks to Ben for finding the Mama laying and to our awesome team members for assisting at a very late hour. We were tired but elated!!!!!!!!
I-1 is quiet at day 54. All the nests were safe this morning and no new crawls.
See you on the beach,
