Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
From Ken & Jan Taylor, July 25th:
B1 [ the first nest of the 2017 Alabama sea turtle nesting season ] was excavated last night, Monday. Had a good crowd of interested visitors. We did find out during the nest sitting process, the nest was washed over the last high tide day of TS Cindy. No additional sand was deposited.
First emergence – Day 68
Escaped from the nest = 82
Alive in nest/released = 11 deep under hatched eggs, several embedded in the wall of nest, could not dig out of concrete like sand
Dead pipped = 1
Dead embryos = 3
Infertile/Addled = 2
93 of 99 to water / 94%
Have a great day everyone.
