Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point

June 12 : From Jan (team leader)
June 12, 2016 B11 track 32″,
Tagged turtle #22, If my notes are correct. Tagged turtle #1 was our nest B8 on 6/4. These three tag groups have been busy with tagging 22 new turtles in 8 days. GSP had a nest also last night. The total count is now 52.
This Mamma knew what she was doing. She crawled 66 ft. from the daily high tide. Very flat water this morning. Looks like they corralled her at the tide pool. She picked out a clump on the secondary dune to deposit her eggs. There is some vegetation and she did dig up some roots in the nesting process. All in all, pretty good place. The primary dune is 44 ft to the north. It was not necessary to relocate and Richard was quick to find the eggs. Yeah.
Thank you to all who came to help. We were all quick to take on a task and get out of the hot sun.
I looked over previous nests track width, thinking today’s Momma might be one from 5/29. Track too big to be B2 & just a bit smaller than B3. We could bein for a wild week if we have a repeat of two weeks ago.
