This from Lisa Graham (OB Team Leader)
The excitement continues with Tina and Leigh calling in crawl/possible nest in A2 at 5:39 am. I’m heading out and Janet calls in with dead turtle at PBR. My garage door broke, could not get my car loaded with supplies out so had to transfer across the street to Moms car! Good Grief! Get to Admirals Qrtrs and appears to be a nest somewhere as it was obviously harassed with footprints all around and on her exit she turned 2 circles before getting away from people. see pics. Finally Tina and Michele get to eggs at 16″ down! We relocated 39 eggs. We looked for a possible second chamber thinking it was the Momma with half a back flipper but no luck. She was big 44″CW and laid the eggs 5′ from loungers. Note all the thrown sand on the loungers. Finished up in the rain. Fun morning.
While we were egg hunting, Janet and Tiff were waiting for the stranding team (Greg) to process the dead turtle. Seeing the size, phone calls were made for help moving the large algae covered turtle at the waters edge. Much to everyone’s surprise, it was an obviously real looking sand/algae sculpture. A good thing in the end but, it caused a lot of grief, emotional and logistical before it was over!
OB team rocks!!!
