Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point

Whooooo!!!!!!!!!!
I left for patrol at 5:30 this morning. I saw Homer was already walking the West end. As I approached the nest just East of the short boardwalk, I saw someone sitting at the nest. A young girl about 12 was attempting to dig around the edge of the wire. She said she was wanting to see eggs. I was kind but gave her a serious lecture. An adult was sitting at the water and she left the nest and went to the adult and they left the beach..
I continued on patrol and got a text from Homer. He had crawls all over near I-4. Herman went to protect the crawls and Homer & I finished patrol.
Two turtles came ashore at I-4 nest area last night. Their paths crossed. One was 36″ and the other was 38″. The larger turtle laid 109 eggs. What a job trying to follow the two crawls all over the beach and into the dune area.
Mama laid close to shore in a low area and we relocated. As we were relocating a lady came near with a dog. She was asked to leave the beach with the canine. [Ed Note: for those that don’t know, dogs are not allowed on Orange Beach beaches]
Thanks, team, for all the expert help today. You are appreciated!
Stay tuned for more adventures,
Turtle Mom
