Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
From Peggy Lively (AP Team Leader) – July 10th:
Hip-hip Hooray!
I was enjoying an early morning cup of java when my cell rang. It was minutes before six. Mary was elated to say she had a nest! I was all dressed in turtle attire and the Turtle Taxi was loaded and ready. I called Susie G and she alerted the team as I drove to the beach. I unloaded nest supplies as the team started arriving. Mama Turtle was a BIGGIE–48 inch tracks! She came ashore about 5 feet and headed back toward the water in Westward direction. Upon reaching the edge of the surf she came back and nested just above the wrack line. There were numerous canine tracks as well as fresh firecracker debris all around her tracks and the nesting area. Thanks to Susie W, Susie G, Fred, Karen, Rick and especially Mary who found nest I-5 and located the eggs!!
Keep dancing!
Turtle Mom
