Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
From Peggy & Herman Lively [AP Team Leader] – July 13th:
Happy Friday 13th!
I decided to fix coffee, relax and enjoy sunrise from the balcony today. I had very good volunteers patrolling. My green shirt was near (just in case). A little after five-thirty, the East patrol volunteer called. She could not patrol due to illness. I quickly dressed, left coffee and got Herman ( Turtle Taxi driver) to drop me off at Flora Bama. Before I reached the beach, an elated Mary called at five- fifty. She had a nest! I ran patrol and hurried to nest site. Faithful volunteers were waiting. Turtle Taxi was there and we moved 159 eggs to a safer location. A coyote had ran all over the nest and tracks. Mama was 44 inches and laid just above the wrack line. Mary found the eggs again. This is Mary’s second nest in four days. Go , Mary!!! Thanks to crew that helped today. You are appreciated!
We are so blessed to live in Paradise!
Happy Turtle Mom
