Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
Oct 2 –
We monitored H9 until 9:00 last night (Oct 1st). Penny checked at 12:00, Jerrie at 3:00 am and I checked it at 5:00 am. Still active but no signs of babies.
I work for the City of OB as a Beach Ambassador and was working the Silver Beach area this morning. Stopped to take a peak about 9:30 and was shocked to see turtle tracks. Followed the tracks out of the tarp, lost them a few feet because of the windblown sand, then I spotted the poor fella with only his back flippers exposed in a crab hole!. I pryed him away from the crab. He was bleeding a little and quite upset as he bit me more than once!! Too tiny to hurt but he was in defensive mode.
This crazy cool weather seems to get our turtles confused on when it is time to make a run for it. It is still active so we will keep a closer eye on it until tomorrow when we excavate.
See you on the beach!
