Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning

Our man, Lance is on a roll finding H-7 this morning in section E!!! Got his call at 5:45 am reporting the Auburn Tigers did not stop Moma T!! She crawled her big 42″ self right on thru the tent and nested. It was an exciting morning as today is Rhonda’s birthday and she was there with her adorable grandson, Reese in the awesome turtle outfit! Penny found the eggs and 85 eggs were moved just beyond the mean high tide line. Always great to have nests on Saturday for those volunteers that work during the week can join us!! Thanks to Mary, Cindy, Ginny, Cathy, Rhonda, Mark, Tina, Penny, Gayle, Michele, Michelle and our man Lance (who was subbing for Joy).
FYI- Lance, Cathy and I headed over to H-1 to stake off our path for tarping and trenching tomorrow so as to give visitors and beach services a day to clear the path. Our plan worked!! the visitor owning the tent in our path came down to the beach after seeing us from his balcony and asked if he needed to move the tent! Beach services were still busy setting up loungers so Cathy was going to talk to them later about moving the loungers by tomorrow.
As of this morning, we have 75 documented nests. We actually have 80 nests because there are several nests on the other side of the Katrina-cut on Dauphin Island that have not been documented. Mike explained today that the area is not patrolled because it is about a mile of jetty to get over to that beach.
Keep up the great work team and I will see you on the beach!!
Lisa
