Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
Nest #6 for OB was actually called in last night (Wednesday 7/8) about 11:00pm by Ashley and Josh, Alabama students from Tuscaloosa. They were sitting on the beach and witnessed what at first they thought was a dead body floating in. As it got closer, and with the help of very bright lights on the Four Seasons Pier, they realized it was a nesting turtle. Ashley quickly Googled, got the hotline number and reported our Moma. THANK YOU Ashley & Josh!!! She nested in section A-2 in about an hour. With help from Mark and Tina, we checked her – NO TAGS.
Back on the scene this morning (Thursday 7/9), We relocated 111 eggs to beyond the mean high tide line. Crawl width was 39″. Great Job team!! Thank you Lisa Swann, Jane, Norm, Gayle, Michele, Mark, Tina, Karen, Lance, Boyd, Sheree and Penny.
We also had special guests with us this morning. Cheryl Fisher, Principal of Gwen Wayman Keith Elementary in Houston, her Mom Wanda and children, Shane, Ryan and Shelby accompanied me on patrol of section B. We took pictures at H-1 (Gwen’s nest) and the boys checked out the famous boardwalk where Gwen weathered out a storm for an hour in 2012. Their first trip to Orange Beach will be a memorable one!!
A BIG THANK YOU to Travis Long and Sean White, OBPD for being on the seen. We so appreciate the support we get from the OBPD.
Thanks OB team – Y’all are the BEST!
See you on the beach,
