H-5 was found this morning (7/2) by Lance – Yippee!!! After 8 years of finding several false crawls (including FCH-2 this morning – 35″ crawl width) and being at nearly every nest find and hatching since – Lance finally found his first very own nest!!! Lance is always the first on the beach on his patrol day so his false crawl call came in at 5:35 and his nest call was at 5:45! The nest was in section E and was only 7′ from the current swash line and well below mean high tide. As you can see from pics, Moma T. came ashore and immediately went thru a human made hole (not filled in from the day before and not huge – thank goodness), came out, nested, did an about face and went out over her incoming tracks. The best measure we could get was 43″ for the crawl width.
Our veterans, Lance (8 yrs), Rhonda (8 yrs), Sheree (8 yrs) and Gayle (10 yrs) removed and relocated 90 eggs to just above the mean high tide line.
Happy Birthday to Lila!! She could not hang around because of a boat dive so she missed what would have been a great birthday pic!! Thanks to Tina, Mark, Lance, Rhonda, Gayle, Penny, Lila, Sheree, Boyd, Greg, Jeanetta, Norm, Jane, Michele for the support!!! Lynn, the now retired manager at Hilton Garden Inn treated us to their buffet breakfast!! Yum Yum!! Love you guys and see you on the beach!!
