The scheduled tarping of H-4 in Orange Beach at 5:30 yesterday (8/19) was met with a summer thunderstorm. So we did the perfectly normal thing (for the Orange Beach team) and headed for shelter over to the Flying Harpoon 2 to ride out the storm. [Thanks to Mitzi and Travis for being great hosts] Before we headed back to the beach the late arrivals had our numbers up to 11.
Back at the nest we encountered a tent parked directly in our path so we moved it – Maybe next year those tent issues will be just a memory thanks to a beach education and enforcement program the City of Orange Beach has instituted this summer. …. Anyway, the entire team pitched in and in no time we had the tarp in place, barrier stakes pounded in, tape strung up and a trench dug. The rain held off until we left and the cloud cover and breeze helped make the work not so terribly hot.
Thanks to Jerrie, Sheree & Boyd, Norm & Jane, Michele, Karen, Lila, Tina, and of course our Team Leader Lisa.
One little footnote: If this is what the hatchlings see its a wonder we get any of them to escape the nest 😉
