July 23: From Lisa Graham (OB Team Lead)
Gosh can’t get behind on emails and data this turtle season!!!
Yesterday (July 22) we had False Crawls 27 & 28.
Pam reported FC 27 at the cottages of Romar, section D. Footprints everywhere so we feel certain she was run off beach. On the other hand, LOL, Renee cleared section E and about 10 min later called to take back her msg!!! I know that feeling, miss it on the first leg and then you think “How could that possibly happen?“. Renee stopped to take a pano of the sunrise and the moon and I believe she spotted the crawl while taking the pic. It was near H17. Funny! Anyway, GSP probably got her since they had a nest not far from her false crawl.
Today, I found False Crawl 29 in A2, east end of Turquoise. Shortly after 5:54am Mary called with activity just west of H1. Mary forgot what a textbook nest looks like and thought it could have been false so I took my time getting back to her and made the late ONECALLNOW. Actually it looked very similar to H-1 nest and measured same Crawl Width of 48″. Section B is covered with nests, this makes 10 in B with 5 of those within 200 yds. Jerrie found the eggs and Jerrie, Michele and Rob relocated 142 BIG eggs back to Turtle Nest Lane!!!
Thanks Team for being there – just love starting my day with all of you!!! Thanks also to OBPD, Travis and Art for your support and everything you do!!!
Have a great day in Turtleland!!!
Lisa
