Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
June 26: From Lisa G (OB Team Leader)
Another active night in OB turtleland!!.
Call came in at 4:00 am from LOF (Leave Only Footprints) crew/Jude the spotter, turtle on the beach at Cotton Bayou. They left the stakes and continued their work. I got the the nest to see Momma T. covering her nest and being protected by Kirsch, a local that was walking the beach and found the crawl. Kirsch thought it was a raft drag with intentions of picking up left trash, she followed the crawl to Momma T. just before the LOF crew arrived. She kept her distance and waited for me to arrive.
As Momma T. was making her exit, we could see her bling and with Kirsch’s help we managed to get her tag number – YAY! Staked the area and left for a cup of coffee before patrolling C. Well Yours Truly had the pleasure of finding our second nest today at Romar House. It was the classic ribbon in the sand with the nest being at the edge of the wooden loungers. Whoohoo. About the same time Cathy called to confirm she found the Cotton Bayou nest.
Thanks again to our SUPER TEAM for coming to both locations. I really hate thought not seeing everybody together at the same time
H-12 41″ CW, 87 eggs in section B. Tag MMA205
H-13 89 eggs in section C (crawl width 38″)
Heading out to stock up on supplies – maybe that will slow things down a bit so we can catch our breath. Not used to daily multiple nests!! I think from the FT. Morgan comments this morning they are actually jealous we have their Mommas in OB. LOL! The word is out – OB beaches are beautiful if you can just handle the lights, loungers and people!
Have a great day and I will see you on the beach.

H-13 report: From Mark S (Blog Guy)
The H-13 team was awesome. Since I was “one stake short of a nest” (Many have said similar of me before) I left the team to finish the relocation while Lisa delivered an extra stake. When I returned to the nest site, they were patiently waiting, having taken care of everything but the final tape around the nest. Less than 5 minutes later we had our novel “shadow team photo” and were on our way.
Thanks to Glen & Dale, Michele F, Jerrie, Joy, Cindy R, and of course Tina. You all ROCK!
Mark
