OMG! What an exciting evening. Arrived at H-1 just before 7:00 to find Jerrie monitoring and hearing some activity. Still no depression. She listened until 7:15 hearing couple of good waterfalls. I decided to freshen the trench, Jerrie was educating. Cathy and Penny showed up and took over trench duty. Took a look at the nest and SURPRISE a huge depression with a head just under the sand – this was abt 7:40. Got the ONE CALL NOW made while feeling a little panicky with the crowds gathering and 3 volunteers. Recruited some visitors to trench the drive-thru and help at the water. At 8:15 H-1 boiled up 80 babies. Several volunteers made it , some to see last couple turtles in the water. The crowd of at least 200 was great!
love this blog, check it almost everyday for updates. We watched this nest get moved back in May. So glad the eggs hatched. You all really should add this to your FaceBook page.
Thanks for the thoughts Peggy. I seldom think about Facebook – not a big time user, but will try to remember in the future.
We have been going to Orange Beach for 30 years and this was the neatest thing we have ever shared! The volunteers were all so nice and had so much information to share. I have never seen a crowd come together like they did that night on that beach (July 23rd). the volunteers said no lights and no flashes and the people complied or told anybody who put a light on to turn it off! Volunteers were there every night and even passed out turtle cookies. We had the most amazing experience watching the turtles make their way to the water. Thank you for sharing this once in a lifetime experience!

Thank you Chris,
We love to share the miracle with anyone willing to listen and watch. I agree with you about the crowd of visitors; the were quite possibly the most cooperative and respectful crowd we have ever had. So glad you got to see.
Hi, My family and I just left the Gulf shores yesterday morning. Right in front of our hotel “Crystal Shores” there was a nest that was very close to hatch. I’ll love to know if there is any news about that nest. We didn’t have the fortune to see the baby turtles but just the fact of having a nest that close to us was something amazing. My 4 year old boy was so excited, he can’t stop asking about that nest. We’ll love to know when the baby turtles hatch.
Thank you 🙂

C-2 and C-4 are both there. C-2 started hatching last night . 1 baby came out. Someone is close by around the clock now. While from 6pm to 6am we have the most people.
We are always happy to see people and answer any questions.
