This from Lisa Graham (August 8th):
H-3 update – 5 more babies emerged abt 10:00pm! Sad news is Mike checked H-3 at 5:00am to remove the cage and it appears someone tampered with the cage and it was not secure. 2 more babies emerged after Jen’s 2:30am check and crawled under cage straight to Escapes. We found 1 in their pool still alive and 1 sadly crawled thru ant bed in vegetation and died. Total hatched 97/112.
GOOD NEWS! Norm ran into Momma T. Leaving the beach this morning after laying 143 eggs!!! The nest was so close to water the bottom eggs were in water. She wandered to the east about 300′ (Turquoise lights probably caused disorientation) before heading back to the water. 40″ crawl width. We have H-10!! This is a very low area as we have lost nests here in the past so it was relocated northeast to higher ground. Great pics on Facebook!!!
MORE GOOD NEWS- Ferran and Jim (Wildlife crew) found HFC-11 in A1 at Phoenix 7. Appeared to be same Turtle. She made a slight nesting attempt so we did a quick check search to confirm it was a false crawl. Exciting find for these newbies!
Reminder: excavations tomorrow H-2 7:
