22 July: From Joe Spafford (GSP Team Lead)
Hey Team,
For the third day in a row we have a nest, lucky G-13 and at least some of us are looking for more. First year member Aimee Krueger was patrolling without her partner Shanna Smith and she found a nest in almost the exact spot G12 was laid. Aimee is catching up to Shanna who found two nests when she was patrolling by herself. That makes four for them as they found the first nest of the season together. We need to start referring to them as the myth busters, destroying my theory of having to patrol for several years before finding a nest! Aimee had to suffer through my talk by herself until more team members started to arrive and help. The pace picked up then and Lynn found the eggs in short order. We relocated 113 eggs to a new nest beside G12 and away from the high tide line. Thanks to Aimee, Bob, Debi, Lynn, Cathy, Carolyn and Doug for their help in getting this one done. We had lots of visitors to keep me distracted and maybe that’s why the nest went so quick. Debra from Cottonport, LA, Benjamin and Lydia from St. Charles Parrish, LA, Ann from St. Louis, Jean and Burt from Houston, and Izzy from Dallas all got to see the team at work and listen to me. Another great turtle day!
