Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
Good Morning Turtlers, Another nest today for a total of 13 [… clip …] Nest # A-18 since the Refuge had 5 nests in addition to our teams before today.
It was a beautiful day to be on the beach. The nest today belongs to Donyale and Jeff Rawson, even if USGS did locate it. Barb Nash found the eggs that were 19″ deep! Wow, She was a big momma with a crawl width of 40″. I hate to say it but I think this momma is a Georgia Bull Dog Fan., Well at least that is where she chose to lay her eggs. She actually crawled under the edge of the tent before nesting just a few feet outside the cover. We didn’t relocate the nest so there is no egg count..
There were several visitors to the nest this morning, among them Linda Parrish who has graciously offered the use of her driveway should we need it during hatching time. Thank you Linda.
We had several helpers in addition to Donyale, Jeff and Barb. There was Judy Kaiser, Rick Nash, Jane Lee, Justin & Amber McCrory, along with Mimi Van Landingham and Cindy Stewart.
We can’t say Thank You enough to all of our volunteers. We have dedicated volunteers that never hit the spotlight and those like Mary Boatman that work in the background everyday keeping up with our data entry. Everyone is as important as the next. Thank You
We’ll See You at the Waters Edge
