After heavy predation by a very wily fox, we have a new and improved predator screen on J-9! Volunteer Rich Brewer researched and found the idea, and Mike approved. The nest is still centered under the screen, and we’re hoping the larger coverage area will deter the fox, and others, from any further meals. Check out the attached photo.
This will not be the new norm for nests. We will still use the smaller screens for any nest we find, but may choose to swap out for these larger screens if we have more fox predation on future nests.
BIG thanks to Rich for his boundless energy and perseverance, and to his daughter Hannah, and Brandy Alexander, for pulling up the old screen and re-staking last night. You guys ROCK!
