Orange Beach H-1 on Sunday Morning
From Lisa (OB Team Leader):
“Yippee we have H-3!!
We are on a roll in OB! H-3 was found in section A-2. Actually Momma T. was spotted last night by the Scoggins Family from Alabaster. They called OBPD and I got the call about 10:07. Momma T. was gone by the time I arrived. We staked off the area knowing the nest would be moved this morning [6/3].
Skip found the nest at 5:52 am and the ONECALLNOW was made at 5:54 am. The tide came up at least 40′ overnight and we were shocked to see our stakes in the water.
Perfect example of what the tides do on our flat beach. She crawled a good distance last night but as you can see from the pics we almost did not have any crawl left to measure. No worries though, we confirmed she was yet another big Momma with a 48″ crawl width. The sand is so soft, clean and fluffy here in OB, we are seeing more of the front flipper marks than usual therefore can better see how big our turtles really are!!! Dale found the eggs! 101 eggs were safely moved north. Thanks again to Liam and Mark for preparing the new nest. Liam just might become our official nest maker!!
Thanks to our awesome team members – Brandi, Mary, Eve, Paul, Rusti, Jude, Norm, Jane, Tina K. Mark, Lance, Jerrie, Dale, Lisa C. Cathy and Michele and the Scoggins Family pictured with us.
