Yesterday afternoon a visitor saw a Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle nesting in the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge.  He took photos and contacted the Share the Beach hotline so our volunteers could make and document the nest. Thank you Zac!

Friday finds – Gulf State Park, Ft Morgan & Dauphin Island

For Friday 5/28/16 – It looks like momma turtles were looking for seclusion today.  Dauphin Island had a false crawl near the west end of the island. While Dauphin Island had their false crawl, the Gulf State Park team got their first nest of the 2016 season.  Here’s the play by play from Team Leader…

Laguna Key gets their first

Tuesday morning the Laguna Key team found their first nest of the 2016 sea turtle season.  It was a loggerhead nest (most along the Alabama coast are) and hopefully a harbinger of good things to come for this nesting season.  Way to go Laguna Key! Congrats.

Interesting Morning on Alabama Point

Happy Thursday,   I headed out at barely light today. No crawls were found. I-2 had a HUGE ghost crab hole. I found him (he must have been on steroids) and he is no longer a threat. No sound on any of the three nests. Two water spouts, a rainbow, and a soft gentle rain…
