
Today in Orange Beach there were hundreds of these bright blue button like “jellyfish” looking things on the beach and in the surf. Visitors were asking what they were so we did some research. It seems that the “Blue Button” is not actually a jellyfish at all, but rather a colony of hydroids. Most people don’t report feeling stings from them but a few reports indicate a mild irritation from contact with these brightly colored organisms. As with most things from the Gulf waters curiosity should be tempered with some caution. … Just sayin’
