A little after two p.m. , I received a call from Mike. The beach boy, Josh Nelson. spotted a Mama Kemp’s coming ashore [clip]. I very quickly called the team communicator to send a text. Ran to my jeep, which was loaded and ready since May 1. I parked and ran to the beach. What a beautiful sight!!!!! Mama was just beginning to nest. Policeman had the crowd at bay and all was good. The procedure took less than forty-five minutes. Mama took a few deep breaths, Looked at the crowd and gently waddled to the sea. Job well done!!!!!! Team members were able to see some of the nesting. A special thanks to Lisa and Kathy from the Orange Beach team. Mama laid near the dune line and the eggs were found, nest marked and appreciations given. We had to wait for a nest this year, but it was well worth the wait.
From Peggy Lively (Team Leader):
I will send pics as they are received.
