Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
From Peggy Lively (AP Team Leader):
I was elated to get a chance to patrol this morning, June 27th (subbing for Dave). I hit the beach at very early dawn. All was very quiet and peaceful. A few birds were flitting about. As I neared the bird nesting area …, I spotted a crawl. Mama had meandered around and ended up in the dune area. Thrown sand was evident. I called Rosie and as I walked a little further, another crawl! Mama had encountered broken shells and debris and no nest attempt was made. I finished patrol and returned to nest site. Team was already gathered and we dug for eggs. The eggs were quickly found and nest data taken. Team, each of you are awesome! All your help is so greatly appreciated. I-9 is very near I-8. Get plenty of rest, our work begins late July!!!! Twenty-one turtles have visited our little stretch of Paradise this year!!!!!! I believe this is a record.
Happy Turtle Mom
