Gordon’s Surprise for Alabama Point
Good Morning,
The Majestic Moon worked magic last night. A little after eleven p.m. Lisa Graham called me. A report was called in to Orange Beach police that a huge turtle was laying on our section of beach. A patrolman was on the scene. I hurried there as Gale called the list. When I arrived a huge crowd was gathered but was very much under control – Thanks to the presence of one of Orange Beach’s finest.
I was amazed at the size of Mama. She was getting ready to drop her eggs and was busy creating a hole. After laying she worked very hard to hide her nesting area, throwing sand everywhere. She then looked up and headed out to sea. We checked for tags and had to remove heavy wooden chairs in her path.
Carrah Wheat a nine year old from Louisiana spotted Mama while ghost crabbing. Great job, Carrah! Thanks to Lisa for calling me, Patrolman John for assistance and the team members who came to assist at such a late hour. I have another great memory to add to Adventures in Turtleland. Mamma was 44 inches and knew where to lay. We did not move the nest.
Keep the Faith,
Turtle Mom
