H1 - Found June 28

Hip Hip Hooray!! We got our nest this morning. Her nest was only about 4 feet above the wrack/tar ball line. Her tracks were actually washed away with high tide before we moved the nest. Track width:35" we found 75 really warm eggs(per Chyerel). We were so fortunate since the weather was threatening and no one was able to walk.I was sitting in parking lot at Cotton Bayou waiting for lightening to stop and thought it was over - walked down to the beach abt 100 yds and there was the nest!!!! Thanks to Dianne(new volunteer),Chyerel, Bonnie, Helen and John for finding eggs and moving the nest so efficiently!!!!

H1 - Collected August 13
H-1 was collected this morning beginning at 6:00 a.m. We sent 72 eggs(day 46) via FEDEXPRESS to Cape Canaveral. Several eggs appeared infertile and several were odd sizes, marble and one big sausage size. This nest was different than any we have had in 10 years in OB. I was told it could have been Momma Turtle's last clutch of the season and the reason for all the undeveloped eggs and unusual stuff in the nest. But several of the eggs appeared full of turtle and ready to hatch!!

Thanks to all the volunteers for showing up early and last minute to send off our babies!! Hopefully I will have pics later.

Y'all are the Best!
